Powering Our Community's Future


On January 23, 2023, the CPS Energy Board of Trustees approved a generation portfolio as part of our Vision 2027 plan to power our community into the future. The portfolio chosen was a blend of gas, solar, wind and energy storage.

While our plans past 2030 are subject to change, we are working toward a future with more emission free power. 

City of San Antonio's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP)


The CAAP goal is to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. The current approved generation plan helps us achieve the CAAP’s 2030 reduction goal, a 41% reduction by 2030. As we add more renewables and new technologies, we will aim to achieve a 2040 goal of a 71% reduction. stake.us free spinsTo achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, most of our fossil fuel (gas and coal) generation may need to be retired or fitted with technology to capture carbon, if feasible.
